Walshy Fire at We De Ya V: Documenting Dancehall, Defining Legacy
At We De Ya V, Walshy Fire of Major Lazer joined us for a powerful conversation on his new book, Art of Dancehall. He reminded us that culture must be documented by those who live it—before someone else tells the story for us. The night was a testament to the legacy of dancehall, the visuals that shaped it, and the importance of preserving Diaspora narratives for generations to come.
The Salon Series: Reclaiming Narratives, Redefining Spaces
The Salon Series is more than just a conversation—it’s a movement. Through thought-provoking discussions and artistic performances, we explore Black identity, placemaking, and storytelling across the diaspora.
Our latest gathering at The Octagon Museum featured Professor Dahlia Nduom, who unpacked how colonial history, tourism, and architecture have shaped Caribbean narratives. As we continue to challenge dominant stories and reclaim our spaces, we invite you to join us in shaping the future of Black thought and culture. Thanks to the Mayor’s Office of Caribbean Community Affairs, Junction Jamaican Restaurant and the Octagon Museum. Stay connected for what’s next!

PinexGinja is a movement that seeks to bring people together through the fusion of Caribbean and West African cultures. We believe that our cultures are a powerful force for good that can bring people from all walks of life together.
PinexGinja values creating a space where people of the African Diaspora, specifically Caribbean and West Africa, can connect, unite, and work together. We also value creating top-tier parties and intimate pop-up experiences highlighting Caribbean and African culture.
